Getting Started
Air is an AI copilot for macOS that lives in your menu bar. It lets you control your Mac with voice commands—send messages, check your calendar, create notes, organize files, and more. Just hold the right Option key and speak.
Download Air from our website, open the .dmg file, and drag Air to your Applications folder. Launch it once and it'll appear in your menu bar. Grant the permissions it asks for (accessibility, microphone) and you're ready to go.
Air requires macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. It works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. For the best voice recognition experience, we recommend a Mac with Apple Silicon.
There are three ways to interact with Air: (1) Tap the right Option key to open Air and type or ask a question, (2) Hold the right Option key to speak—Air will transcribe and act on what you say, (3) Double-tap the right Option key to have Air read your screen and suggest a response.
Features & Capabilities
Air integrates natively with macOS apps including Finder, Messages, Calendar, Notes, Reminders, and Mail. It can also open any app, search your files, and perform system actions like toggling Do Not Disturb.
Yes! When you double-tap the Option key, Air captures your current screen context to provide relevant suggestions. For example, if you're looking at an email, Air can draft a reply. This requires the screen recording permission.
Air requires an internet connection for AI processing. However, we're actively working on local model support that will allow Air to work completely offline—coming soon.
Currently, Air uses the right Option key as the default trigger. Custom hotkey support is on our roadmap and will be available in a future update.
Privacy & Security
Yes. Air processes your voice commands to perform actions, but we don't store your conversations or use them to train AI models. You can enable Zero Data Mode in settings to disable all analytics—your commands stay entirely on your device.
Air requests: (1) Accessibility—to perform actions like clicking and typing, (2) Microphone—for voice commands, (3) Screen Recording—optional, for screen context features. You control which permissions to grant.
Air is designed with privacy in mind. We use encrypted connections (TLS 1.3) for all data transmission. However, like any AI assistant, we recommend not sharing highly sensitive information like passwords or financial details through voice commands.
Pricing & Plans
Air offers a generous free plan that includes daily voice commands, all core features, and native app integrations. For power users who need unlimited usage and advanced features, we offer Air Pro at $9.99/month.
The free plan includes: daily voice commands, text chat with AI, calendar and reminders integration, messages and notes integration, file organization, and screen context features. It's designed to be genuinely useful, not a limited trial.
Air Pro ($9.99/month or $95/year) includes: unlimited voice commands, priority processing for faster responses, advanced features as they launch, and priority support. Pro users also get early access to new features like local models.
Troubleshooting
First, check that Air has microphone permission in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Make sure you're holding (not just tapping) the right Option key. If issues persist, try quitting and restarting Air.
Most action failures are due to missing permissions. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and ensure Air is enabled. For screen-related features, also check Screen Recording permissions.
Quit Air from the menu bar icon, then drag Air from your Applications folder to the Trash. To remove all data, also delete ~/Library/Application Support/Air. You can revoke permissions in System Settings.
